Trustees for Methodist Church Purposes

The principal function of the Board, incorporated by the Methodist Church Act 1939, is to act as custodian trustee of all property held on Model Trusts of the Methodist Church Act 1976.

The mission of TMCP is to support and strengthen the Methodist Church, both by providing practical support to Managing Trustees and by working closely and effectively with our colleagues in the Methodist Connexional Team. Data Protection

The General Data Protection Regulation (‘GDPR’) and the Data Protection Act 2018 (which enshrines GDPR into UK law), are now in force. Managing Trustees need to be aware of the changes brought about by the new data protection legislation and how it will affect local church life.

TMCP in conjunction with the Connexional Team have produced a toolkit of guidance, policies, templates and training to help Managing Trustees to continue (or begin) to work on compliance and keep personal information safe.

Panel Solicitors

A panel of solicitors has been set up to provide advice to managing trustee bodies across the Methodist Connexion. The firms on the panel were selected following a rigorous tender exercise and have extensive experience in acting for charities and Christian organisations across a wide area of legal work. When Managing Trustees need to instruct a solicitor we recommend that they please instruct one of the firms on the panel.

The benefits to Managing Trustees in using the firms on the panel are that they are familiar with Methodist law, policy and the procedural requirements which must be complied with in transactions.
