The Conference Office at Methodist Church House would like to draw Managing Trustees’ attention to a new resource to help apply good charity governance which is now accessible from the Methodist Church Website:

The latest edition of the Charity Governance Code was released in 2017. While a handy and practical guide, it is ill-suited to smaller charities dealing with the challenge of promoting good governance with limited resources – one Managing Trustees will be familiar with.

The National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) has produced a ‘Toolkit,’ designed to support micro and small charities in implementing the principles of the Code. As a rule of thumb, it adapts the Code for the purposes of smaller charities with no staff and an income of less than £100,000.

Areas covered include risk management, managing conflicts of interest, leadership and decision making. The Tool Kit can now be accessed via the ‘Guidance for Methodist Trustees’ section of the Church’s website.
