The following new data protection resources are now available to Managing Trustees via the Data Protection page on the TMCP website:
- Processor Record for Methodist Managing Trustees – new “Standard Document” and accompanying webpage.
The new Processor Record for Methodist Managing Trustees is now available to help Managing Trustees to keep a central record of the different data protection documents and records they use and to show compliance with the requirements of data protection legislation. Article 30(2) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) includes a requirement for processors (those within the Church who handle personal information), to keep records about the personal information that they deal with. To help Managing Trustees keep the required records, TMCP has produced the Processor Record for Methodist Managing Trustees to be used as part of the general data protection toolkit of policies, guidance and templates. The record has been completed as far as possible by TMCP to help Managing Trustees and in the majority of cases only limited further details will need to be added. Further guidance on how to use and complete the record is available on the accompanying webpage.
- Shared Churches and Data Protection Focus Note – new “Guidance Note”
This new focus note is aimed at Managing Trustees who are party to a sharing agreement and/or are in an ecumenical relationship. The focus note looks at who should be the “Controller” of personal data under the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018 and which Church’s data protection policies, procedures and templates to use.
For the full toolkit of data protection guidance, policies, template notices, registers and forms please refer to the Data Protection page on TMCP’s website. We are currently updating the Data Protection FAQs and other resources to take account of developments over the past year and the full resources now available to Managing Trustees. Notice of these updates will be provided via the News Hub.
We are currently finalising dates for the Data Champion training and will be in touch with District Data Champions shortly to invite them, and those involved with data protection, to a number of small group training sessions designed specifically to help them provide ongoing support to those responsible for data protection in Circuits and Local Churches. The dates for the training will also be posted to the website.
If you have any queries in relation to the guidance in this document please contact TMCP Data Protection for further assistance.
